The GMAT had become a huge obstacle in my life and academic career. I always wanted to go to graduate school and get my MBA, and that was proving more difficult than expected. I had always thought that I was smart enough to study on my own and that the GMAT score would just be a formality when it came time to being accepted into graduate school. “The third time truly is the charm! That was my experience with the GMAT. The first two times that I took the test, I got the same result: a disappointing 570 (Quant: 30th percentile/Verbal: 80th percentile).
I was frustrated and discouraged. Self-study was clearly not working for me—that’s when I decided to try tutoring. I found Target Test Prep, and consequently, I found a 710 (Quant: 68th percentile/Verbal 97th percentile).
My tutor provided individualized, high-caliber instruction. He helped me understand the concepts being tested, dissect questions, and formulate a strategic plan to strengthen my weaknesses.

“Last year as a junior, I took the SAT and did not score nearly as well as I wanted. So, a friend recommended Target Test Prep for tutoring. My sister and I began working with their tutors. Because my sister and I only had a few months before our November SAT, our tutoring sessions were very intense and focused (and well worth it!). The math tutoring basically re-taught me math skills (such as algebra and geometry) that I had failed to remember, and the English tutoring, (on things such as sentence structure and word placement, as well as a lot of vocabulary) bolstered my verbal skills. I knew some of the quant areas I needed improvement in before beginning, and discovered others during the tutoring sessions. “Before I began studying for the GMAT, I did hours of research on the top test-prep companies and the services they provided. I ended up ordering a few books and online programs to get started, which helped me re-learn the basics in the math and verbal sections. However, I found that most of these materials were very general and did not cover specific territories in enough depth. As a result, my first two test scores were in the 500’s. I realized that my level of competence with key subjects and my strategies for tackling 600 and 700 level questions weren’t very strong.
That’s why I decided to find a personal tutor to help address my areas of weakness and develop sound strategies. I contacted several tutoring services, but ultimately decided to go with Target Test Prep because of its strong teaching method and attention to detail. My tutor advised that we would break down the test into manageable sections and key skills. I had purchased study course from another company and it was not delivering results; I was frustrated. In my initial conversation with a TTP Tutor, we discussed my personal goals and the tutor recommended a strategic study plan. I immediately felt a sense of relief.

“I generally am a strong student in English, as grammar, writing, and the other topics that are covered on the SAT have always come naturally to me. Math class has not always been as easy, as my brain is not as technical as a genuine math person's would be. Knowing this, I went in to my first SAT expecting just about what I got out of it, a 640 on Critical Reading, and a lower 620 score on the math section. My third part topped out at a 650. I took this first SAT attempt in December, and therefore received my scores in January. After receiving these scores, I brought a copy of them on my visit to Yale for lacrosse. The coach told me that my score may get me in the door, but that if I could increase it to above a 1300 and keep my classroom grades where they were, it would make his recruitment of me much easier. After hearing that in February, I knew it was time to crack down. I heard of target test prep through my father, and we contacted them.
That weekend, my family and I sat down with a TTP tutor and formed a game plan which was to increase my score to at least a 1300, by focusing solely on math. Pressed for time because of both lacrosse season starting up, and the recruiting process picking up speed, we settled on 3 hard weeks of studying, and a March 7th test date. As my tutor does not live near me, we used a program over the computer that allowed him to show me exactly what to do on problems, give me notes, and talk me through everything. This was helpful as I could save all the notes, have them for my practice SATs and my homework, and I could shoot him a question in order to get help whenever I needed to. This technology, along with my tutor’s experience in giving each separate student exactly what they need to succeed, landed me a 680 on math on my March test. Due to this, my superscore (the sum of your highest score for each part on all your SATs) rose to a 1320, and a 1970 on three parts. I am now in a very good position at Yale, as well as other colleges such as the Naval Academy for lacrosse, and have been on recruiting visits for football to Princeton and Yale in the last two weekends. I am also looking forward to my trip to Brown this weekend for a football visit, and will be taking full advantage of the invite to football camp I received from Harvard. Every point counts when considering schools such as Ivys and NESCACs, and target test prep helped me to attain those much needed points.” |

"Choosing to seek the help of Target Test Prep was the smartest decision I could’ve made while applying to graduate school. With the job market becoming so competitive, I decided it was important to obtain my MBA. After reading through several GMAT books, it became apparent that I was going to need the help of an expert if I was going to achieve the score I wanted.
I was searching for tutoring services online when I came across Target Test Prep. I was a little skeptical of being tutored online, and since I never used Skype before, I was a little intimidated. I quickly found out that the process couldn’t have been easier. I was able to download Skype for free in a matter of minutes, and logging on to the tutoring session was really simple. "After working with Target Test Prep, I scored a 730 on the GMAT, which was almost a 130 point increase over my prior two GMAT attempts (I scored in the low 600's twice after self-studying). I would strongly recommend that anyone who is serious about getting a great score on the GMAT work with Target Test Prep.
After months of self study followed by a 3 month course with one of the "elite," well-known companies, I found that while I could get certain types of problems right, my understanding of the various GMAT topics was not deep enough to earn a high score. However, after working with my instructor at Target Test Prep course I was really able to master the material and saw almost an instant increase in my score.
Aside from the rapid improvement in my test scores, I found working with my math and verbal instructors to be a very rewarding experience. They undertook a systematic approach to first understand where my weaknesses lay and then to come up with a strategy to eliminate them. We worked together to build my knowledge base through the web-classes (which, by the way, I found much more effective than any in person course I have taken). Their GMAT prep material was excellent. I found their personalized teaching process to be far superior to many other test prep courses that focus on guessing strategies. I found Target Test Prep after spending months preparing for the GMAT with a popular, national GMAT prep company. I was frustrated with the company’s lack of attention to detail and lack of personalized service and teaching. In addition, I was frustrated with this company’s curriculum. Although difficult, its materials did not seem to be applicable to the actual GMAT.

"Target Test Prep is the best thing to happen to GMAT prep in a long time. Before finding Target Test Prep, I had worked with a tutor from one of the larger GMAT prep companies. Although I found this tutor to be knowledgeable, her teaching skills left something to be desired. I never quite felt great about the GMAT material, and I always felt that I was missing something important; I could never consistently crack GMAT problems. This was extremely frustrating since prior to my GMAT study, I found high-level success in my personal, academic, and professional lives. It was maddening that I could not find success on the GMAT.

I would recommend Target Test Prep to anyone who wants to master the GMAT. Target Test Prep was my most valuable asset while preparing for the GMAT.

“Self-studying to a 680 GMAT though wanting a 700+ led me to seek out some help. Other test prep providers' offerings were non-appealing and absurdly time-consuming. Target Test Prep was exactly what I was looking for in a test prep provider.
A truly individualized approach - TTP asked the right questions, identified my weak points, and aggressively sought to improve them. If you're reading between the lines you'll notice they didn't waste any of my money or (very) limited time on subjects in which I was already strong. Additionally, my tutor's knowledge of the GMAT allowed him to know exactly where to focus our sessions, improving my comprehension of the material without fail.
The result of my experience with TTP was a Quantitative score increase from 46 to 48, contributing to an overall score improvement from 680 to 760 (99th percentile at the time). Although gains are hard to come by when you're already scoring in the top 15%, TTP can not only help those starting near the median, but also help those already performing at a high level in joining the top tier of test-takers.

| "I scored a 700 after preparing with Target Test Prep. Before this, I had scored a 560. My tutor gave me the insight and strategies that I never would have obtained on my own. My web-based private tutoring sessions were easy to schedule and were customized to cover the material that was most valuable for me (this is very different from the way some GMAT companies perform their tutoring).
