We’ve put together Target Test Prep because we feel that many of the prep companies currently in the field are decidedly off target. Either they have substituted the teaching of gimmick strategies for actual knowledge, or they have taken the condescending attitude that their students will have too difficult a time learning real information and have watered down the concepts necessary to do well – in effect, settling for something much less than a bullseye.
We have a better opinion of our students. We know that every one of them can master the basic, but important, skills that standardized testing is engineered to measure. The clear exposition of mathematical, grammatical, and logical principles, bolstered with lucid examples and intensive, relevant practice can put success into the hands of all but the most unmotivated students. We have many examples of students who achieved success -- coming to us after their futile encounters with the better known prep companies.
Performing well and teaching well are two different skills. The two must be connected by the clear understanding of how to apply knowledge. That’s why we have assembled not only teachers who have demonstrated success on the tests themselves, but also teachers who can communicate how to do so. They are also teachers who rely heavily on clear examples and student involvement. Every principle discussed is demonstrated by either real problems or carefully constructed examples that the student and teacher work through together.
The added benefit is that we have assembled tutors who love their subjects and have fun presenting them. The material is presented in an engaging, articulate, and often entertaining manner, and we encourage everyone to test us by taking advantage of a complimentary lesson – in effect, to test-drive us and our way of doing things.
